snow globes anyone?

I needed to come up with an art project
for my class for Monday...
so today I put on my thinking cap
and came up with this 2D snow globe.
I decided to share the prototype now
in case someone out there needed a project
to do with the kiddos asap...

so first I painted a winter scene
on cardboard...

then I added some stars and snow glitter...

then I painted acrylic snow on left over laminate
from the laminating machine at school...
(the librarian saves it for me)

so then I put a strip of glue around 3/4s of the globe
and sewed over it to attach.
I poured a tablespoon of snow glitter,
and some stars into the top opening,
then glued that edge and sewed it close.
(notice my faithful friend)

Voila!
a fun winter project
and it even shakes!

advent December 24

I hope you have enjoyed my advent 'one a day' posts.
I am amazed that I actually did it.
This is my last one for the season...
It is the front of our Christmas card.

I wish each of you a blessed Christmas,
Pam

...and his name shall be called
Wonderful,
Counselor,
the Mighty God,
the Everlasting Father,
the Prince of Peace.

advent December 21

love this nativity scene...
have taken liberties with the story...
Here we have villagers going about their business...
not realizing the Christ child has been born.
but here is his humble birth...
Aren't these lead figures wonderful?
Even these guys come to worship him
bearing gifts...
as St. Nick sells his trees in a lot nearby.

advent December 20 - a Sunday blessing

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night.

An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were terrified.
but the angel said to them,
"Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy
that will be for all the people.

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you;
he is is Christ the Lord.
This will be a sign to you:
You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel,
praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

These banners were made
by my chapel art group
I put them up in the gym every year and just love them...

advent December 19

I adore Springerle molds...
this is my stash...
and this guy hangs in my kitchen all year...
and makes a beautiful santa at Christmas...
and these grapes are perfect year round...
and he lives in my kitchen too...
and on my tree...
and I made these for sweet little presents for friends...
If you succumb to the Springerle bug
then I suggest you visit
for more, and more, and more...

advent December 15

OK if you still have not found the perfect gift for santa to bring
your kitty,
then look no further...
let me introduce you to the
Whisker City Play Cavern
from Pet Smart.
My husband brought home this inexpensive cardboard contraption
with a ball hanging in the cavern
and I thought it was a joke...
needless to say, my cat disagreed with me...
and has already spent countless hours sharpening claws, batting balls,
eating all the catnip from the bag I hid ...
and sleeping on it...
go buy one today -
your cat will thank you.
Obviously I received no compensation for this endorsement :)
