a Sunday blessing

a photo of a summer day 4 weeks ago
when my oldest flew home because we knew Hank didn't have too many days left on this earth.
My dear sweet father-in-law passed away this week.
I really don't have any words to say,
just not even at that point yet.
My chest hurts and I feel numb and my brain isn't really working.
I also feel a tad panicked that I am going back into that dark spot
that I found myself in after my mom died last year.
I wasn't going to share, as my blog seems to be in transition
and I was seriously planning on making it only about art,
but then this photo stared at me this morning and I decided to be brave.
My son says it all right here
and I am so thankful for his words when mine fail.
Hug and love your parents this week...

can you imagine?

can you imagine sailing to the other side of the world?
and having no idea what is there or if you will return to tell of your tales?
sometimes art is like that-
you start one direction and it goes another,
you fall into storms and fear for the outcome,
you try a different course and pray for the best.
well it is not quite so dramatic but you artists understand.
here i am ont he Mayflower II last week pondering the universe I do believe.

dream vacation

just got back from a dream vacation
in Gloucester Massachusetts
where we spent many hours at this beach
and visited Rockport
and sailed across the Atlantic to Martha's Vineyard
and followed the Freedom Trail in Boston
and my son and husband wanted to play golf at the private club
and Samwise and I spent some cuddle time
and I am so missing these three
and now that I am back at work,
my head just doesn't seem to be able to focus and engage...
wonder why?

dream town USA

Just got the newest issue in the mail,
and I happened to turn to this page,
and if you were within 100 feet from me
you would have heard a slight, or not so slight gasp
emit from my mouth,
as I happen to be jetting across this fine country tomorrow
to visit this dream town and visit these dream kids.
First Samwise (aka Puppycakes) will show me his favorite beach,
and then Jonathan will show me his favorite beach,
and then kimberlyrenee will show me hers.
btw I stole these photos from her wonderful blog-
hope she will forgive me ;).
Tomorrow I will have my own photos of
dream town USA to share myself.-
if I can get all my chores done...

dog days...

my great niece pretending to be a puppy-
notice her tongue is out
and she is in Zoe's pool.
and learning the proper way
to throw and fetch
and just thought  my small angel was cute.
the dog days of summer continue...
i really must get back into the studio.

birth

giving birth to these women right now...
sometimes doesn't creating art just seem like that?
the process pulls out people and colors and textures and ideas
that you didn't even know existed inside your head
and
'poof',
there they are waiting to be birthed and come alive.
well these three are going to need to be a little patient
after my painting a day marathon.
Oldest son comes to visit,
then we head back east and then school starts.
i guess i should start working on mixed media and ipad art ideas
for those little ones too.
can't wait to teach them ipad art -
know they will soar with those tools.
here is your quote for the day-
Creation is a better means of
self-expression than possession;
it is through creating,
not possessing,
that life is revealed.

a painting a day #15

my last post in this series...
4 more large pieces coming to life in the studio,
but you will need to wait a while to see those.
Thanks for all of your kind words;
they kept me going!
We are in full summer mode here -
too hot,
but I am thankful so I can be ready when it cools down.
Blessings to each of you!
