Jonah and Nineveh - iPad style

We took a trip to Nineveh,
but did a circuitous route just like Jonah.
So the students had time to ponder
what it would have felt like sitting in that large fish's tummy
and to think about how Jonah still didn't get God at the end of the story.
And even after he obeyed and saved the whole city,
he still grumbled.  Just like me...
It's so easy to question why Jonah didn't get it,
but I bet God thinks the same about me.
And forgives and loves me anyways.
Notice Nineveh has a Macys - how cute is that?
Be sure and notice the worm crawling up the vine in each of the following pieces.
You can imagine what will happen next.
Love doing these Bible stories with the kiddos.
Hopefully the act of listening and drawing will really set the examples on their hearts.

a final summer hurrah

I just love this lesson;
it always turns out great and allows each kiddo
to add his own spark.
This class has 3 Ks, 3 Firsts, and a Third and Fourth Grader
so there is quite a wide breadth of ability.
But I just adore each.
Don't they make you smile and wish summer would return?

Noah's ark iPad style

We sailed away through the storm
and landed under a rainbow sky.
Noah should have been so lucky to have these onboard kiddos
sketch the whole watery adventure on their iPads.
These guys and their artistic outlooks make me so happy!
Mine above and
their cropped versions collaged below.

in the studio

This painting has had a mind of its own.
I have not been able to get the color right.
It actually looks much better in the photo.
If it had stayed like this I would have let it be,
but no I had to go and experiment.
So the color was amped up (which really isn't me)
as I am trying to stretch and lean outside my comfort zone.
So with that done and feeling utterly at a loss,
I decided to let some friends join the party.
Who knows where the piece is going now?
Maybe wip should stand for
What if people?

back to school

Just love meeting new bright-eyed students filled with awe and wonder and hope.
Isn't that just the best?
Well this year is no exception and I must say -
they all seem to be very talented too.
So I have two iPad classes and one mixed media at two different schools.
One iPad class will explore 3 different apps.
We started with Art Rage and explored making shapes
and bucket-filling them with color.
The second iPad class is Bible Stories and I will show you
their version of Creation next week.
My last class is Mixed Media and I had to do the swimming lesson again.
How can I not when they turn out these beauties?
they will be done next week.
I am tired but my art opening is tonight (just look at the post below),
so I guess I better wake up and smile because life is good,
yes it is ;)

Illumination opening

Remember this one?
That would be my girl and bear in the very middle of the poster.
Well the opening is this Friday
so stop by if you live anywhere in western Washington.
Should be a fun time!
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

tomato hunt

She is enjoying fresh picked tomatoes
warm from the summer sun
just as much as we are.
Who can blame her?
