What's new at artEAST?
Time for a change.
With the weather changing I tend to switch gears too.
I get out the texture and molding goo and tend to build layers,
just like my wardrobe.
Layers rule the day.
Just finished and delivered these two.
Black Button Bouquet
$130
(shipping available :)
Stone Gardens
$240
Stone Gardens comes with this tag attached.
My imagination can really go to some odd places.
But seriously I do so wish this company existed.
Then just maybe my mind would get a rest.
And time to say goodbye to these two friends
who I enjoyed birthing.
So hard to say farewell to those I love,
even if they are only flat beings on canvas.
Hope they go to a good home and make someone smile.
Such a weird part of being an artist...
I must learn to release :)
but I miss them.

in love with Lancaster
Ahh Lancaster PA,
words don't describe how beautiful this place is.
We were greeted by these two
and given a tour after the 10 inches of rain subsided
(seriously do we know how to pick our vacation dates to get away from Seattle rain?)
and we saw lots of buggies
and covered bridges
and heard clip clops
and saw farmers farming
and saw some strange transportation methods
and cuddled with him
and was so proud of him
and tried hard not to cry watching him preach
and met Sweetpea and loved being with her radiant mama
and worked in their new yard
and played in their yard
and was so very blessed by their incredible church
and made new friends
and ate yummy things
and saw new things
and photographed new things
and will return very soon
when Sweetpea makes her way into this beautiful world.

Jonah and Nineveh - iPad style
We took a trip to Nineveh,
but did a circuitous route just like Jonah.
So the students had time to ponder
what it would have felt like sitting in that large fish's tummy
and to think about how Jonah still didn't get God at the end of the story.
And even after he obeyed and saved the whole city,
he still grumbled. Just like me...
It's so easy to question why Jonah didn't get it,
but I bet God thinks the same about me.
And forgives and loves me anyways.
Notice Nineveh has a Macys - how cute is that?
Be sure and notice the worm crawling up the vine in each of the following pieces.
You can imagine what will happen next.
Love doing these Bible stories with the kiddos.
Hopefully the act of listening and drawing will really set the examples on their hearts.

a final summer hurrah
I just love this lesson;
it always turns out great and allows each kiddo
to add his own spark.
This class has 3 Ks, 3 Firsts, and a Third and Fourth Grader
so there is quite a wide breadth of ability.
But I just adore each.
Don't they make you smile and wish summer would return?

Noah's ark iPad style
We sailed away through the storm
and landed under a rainbow sky.
Noah should have been so lucky to have these onboard kiddos
sketch the whole watery adventure on their iPads.
These guys and their artistic outlooks make me so happy!
Mine above and
their cropped versions collaged below.
