love those blue angels...

One of my most favorite things to do in the entire world is watching the Blue Angels fly over Lake Washington every summer!

Just look at those boats and all the anticipated viewers waiting oh so patiently.

There's Bellevue and the 1-90 floating bridge.

And then after all that it took to get here - crossing the bridge before it closes, finding a place to park, and walking to just the right spot...

Here they come in all their glory...

going high...

going low...

and finally we all get buzzed - the best!!!

Aren't they beautiful???

Etsy coming soon!

So I am currently working on lots of mixed media pieces-what fun!
Here are some photos of pieces I worked on at my parents during the past two weeks.

I started with papers, transfers, tissue and of course my favorite bubble wrap for dots.
I took some inspiration from magazine photos I saved. Thought it would be interesting to go for a similar feel, but interpret the idea my way.

The following piece started with a transfer of a wine bottle and tissue for the pot.

Here it is further along with the pot painted and more elements added. not sure what to do next - maybe buttons on the flowers, more outlines and a coating of beeswax?

You can find these for sale here sometime in August!

Summer Harvest

First we have glimpses of the best farmer's market -
in Boise Idaho...

and then we get to our yard and our small vegie garden...
It is fun but not enough sun to make a huge bounty.
The basil and lettuce has been delish...

and the tomatoes are coming along
(maybe ready to eat in September)...

and the squash is gorgeous, but the zucchini got devoured by some unseen bug...

what a beautiful color palette!

but then all it took was one night and one deer to discover the lettuce and two kinds of peas and they were history... such is the joy of gardening!

and some random shots...

Look what the tide brought in...

My son and daughter-in-law were visiting last week and we went to Alki for fish'n chips, then for a walk on the beach. We had a great time hunting for sea glass, shells and beautiful polished rocks.

It is truly amazing how polished they get.

Hard for me to spot the sea glass, but my son found lots.

They look perfect on a plate.

Look at those colors!

So Kim and I had a great time experimenting with solder - some worked and some didn't.

These are my two stone necklaces. I will try the sea glass next.

The only problem is that I miss my jewelry partner.
She and my son are moving to the east coast next week -
boo hoo I am sad :(
