iPad Nativity Scenes from my students

Love these scenes my students finished yesterday.
Kids capture the simplicity and creativity
that makes me smile.
This artist asked me if a cheshire cat could visit the nativity.
Why yes.  Love it!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

While I pot some paper whites for gifts
Matteo has visions of birds dancing in his head.

Just some Instagram Posts

I am painting so much this autumn,
and on track for my solo show next March.
But that seems to lead to drinking more lattes
(with caffeine) than I should.
But the darkness outside seems to demand it.
Thank goodness for apps like Distressed FX
which make every photo
just a little more fun.
Hope you are staying joy filled this autumn too!

Paintings with a Cherry on Top!

I love cherries!
It seems as if others agree-
This painting sold as soon as it made it to artEAST.
 So I painted another one.
Maybe now I will move on to pumpkins or holly...
time is moving much too quickly ;)

Issaquah Utility Box Art by Pamela Holderman-that's Me!

My paintings are up and looking beautiful!
I am so honored to have two of my art pieces
covering utility boxes by the Issaquah Creek in Issaquah, WA.
I tell all about it here.
Hopefully they are cheering on the salmon as they make their way up creek.
Seriously it could happen ;)

iPad art Continues...

iPad art is in full swing this fall.
I just love the students' view of how the ark might have looked
and how beautiful that garden would have been in the beginning.
We depicted creation using six layers for the six days that God created.
What a great way to teach layers to students.
And they got it!
Last week we drew Joseph and his coat.
We drew the background, then drew a stick figure Joesph and gave him pants and a shirt.
Then we created a complete design for the coat in another painting.
We put it into photos, and pulled it back onto Joseph, sized it,
 and erased around it.
This week we continue with Jonah inside that big fish.
I will post next week.

Big Vase-Small Table

Sometimes I just want a very large vase of flowers
to fill my day with overflowing love.
And if I can't get it then I will paint it.
This one started out as the bottom left-
Can you see it?
Then it morphed into this
and finally the piece you see above.
Hope your day is filled with a huge bouquet of flowers!

Goodbye Summer

I am never ready to say goodbye to summer...
We made friends with a crow named Richard.
He had a craving for Ritz crackers.
Matteo even tolerated him.
And our fountain became the home of 21 tadpoles.
I can still see about four.  Hope they mature soon.
Goodbye summer.
I will miss you.
sigh...

Two paintings meet on a Utility Box-Hooray!

My two paintings finally get to meet.
A Great Day and Home Sweet Home will say hello on a busy street corner
on Newport Way in Issaquah WA by the Issaquah Creek.
I am told that 64,000 commuters drive this road every day
and this does not even include the thousands of returning salmon every fall.
Wouldn't it be nice if those salmon could poke their heads out of the creek,
and take a much needed break to enjoy some art
and be encouraged by this happy air-breathing fish?
It could happen.
Just don't let this happy fisherman see them.
 Here is the intersection and
the utility boxes they will go on.
A vinyl reproduction will be made and wrapped around these boxes somehow.
Can't wait to see how they turn out!
I will let you know when they are living here!

A Little Girl's Art-Two Legged horse with a Party Hat?

Look what I discovered at my dad's last week.
One of my early drawings.
Glad everyone looks happy and
I especially love the hands.
Good job with composition and use of lines if I do say so myself ;)

Time for Hot Chocolate Mugs

If you are looking for something to do this summer
while the kids are still home,
then look no further.
Draw a cow for a mug!
You can paint, or draw, or paint on an iPad.
These cuties were made by my students last trimester.
Then I added the writing with PicMonkey,
uploaded their art to Costco's Photo Center,
then patiently waited for my mugs to arrive in the mail.
Seriously they always arrive in a few very quick days.

Aren't they adorable?
Like I always say,
kids are the best artists!

Now go grab your kids
and make some Christmas presents for grandparents.
Because that time of year will be here before you know it!
