oh what joy - a day to paint...

My brother was supposed to visit today,
but will come next week instead,
so the good news was that I was all caught up on all those pre-visit chores -
well at least some of them...
so
I spent the whole day painting!!!
If you are at all strange like me
(that's what makes you an artist)...
you like to look at messy art desks...
and supplies and stencils and wood doo dads
to attach to paintings, etc...
and half completed paintings.
This painting will be a winter white when completed.
I had fun using molding paste to make the
mirror frame in the painting...
and the dresser texture...
Silver leaf on the mirror comes next!
Can't wait for another free day to play...

My cakies has a wonderful Halloween blog...

One of my favorite blogs Cakies has a wonderful
Halloween story that her family acted out ...

a murder of crows... the story continues...

a murder of crows...
I seem to be following a theme here this fall...
My cat makes me laugh;
He puffs himself up all fat and fluffy,
but then he squats as low as he can to hide from the crows outside -
he can't decide if he wants to appear large or small...
Here was his view today which kept him quite occupied...
So in keeping with our theme we made crows!
and pumpkins...
and fall leaves...

and an autumn moon...
that even grins...
and birds looking at the moon...
and having a chat...
and enjoying each other's company.

I had forgotten what a flock of crows is called and leave it
to a 2nd grader to remind me -
A group of birds of any type is generically known collectively as a flock. For a number of individual birds, there exist poetic collective nouns particular to the type of bird. Many of these collective nouns are fanciful, and not in common use in English - hence "a murder of crows".
Hope you are enjoying your autumn!

a Sunday blessing

We saw this provocative sculpture at
The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
It took my breath away...

They bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate.

lots of art and cards for sale!

My wonderful husband and I hit
the salvage stores this week.

Earthwise is our favorite...

so I had to get organized and I finally posted lots of cards for sale on etsy...

and this painting called GROW...

and this one called HOLLY AND THE IVY...

which will probably become a Christmas card...

and this one called VELVET BLOOM.

then we went and saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
which was all I wanted for my birthday,
and then I came home to find my first sale on etsy to
someone I don't know...
That was so amazing!!!

An Autumn tail...

Welcome to Matteo's world...
I wonder what is happening outside today?
Well wait a minute...
This is new...
Interesting...
Well it looks like a bird...
Does it smell like a bird?
not really...
The beak doesn't move...
Let's see if I can get it?
Gotcha...
You're mine!!!

Joseph and his amazing coat made by some amazing little artists

Go, go, go Joseph you know what they say
Hang on now Joseph you'll make it some day
Don't give up Joseph fight till you drop
We've read the book and you come out on top ...

Can't wait - I am going to the musical Saturday and can't get this little tune out of my head...
Well my amazing students have done it again -
just look at their magnificent pieces below...

We made the coat separately and made stripes out of tissue...

then we had to add sheep...

buttons, glitter, feathers and string...

I want a coat like this!

I think Matteo agrees!
or maybe it was the feathers on this one that got his attention...
