the earth laughs in flowers

I adore this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson -
the earth laughs in flowers
And seeing as spring seems to be making an appearance in our neck of the woods, I decided to retire the snow princess and bring out the flowers.
This is my newest painting which has all the colors of spring
and just makes me happy -
I think it needs an old whitewashed frame
and that gives me an excuse to do some thrifting.
It has all the things I love -
mica flakes, vintage silver-lined plastic buttons, old book pages,
dusty rose German glass glitter...
and of course an urn.
I really have a thing for urns.
And since Misty taught me how to make crackles
with a stamp last year,
my urns have taken on a whole new - or should I say
'old' appearance.
Now I just wish spring would stay around for awhile!

  3. It was easy. Misty Mawn taught me. It is just a stamp. I found one on line - there are different ones. I just stamped a Stazon brown ink on part of the pad and put it on in the spots that I wanted to highlight. Voila - that is it.

  4. *BEAUTIFUL*! I'm working in some spring paintings right now. *LOVE* that season... but I live in Miami and here is eternal summer (no complaints, just in case) :)
